In a recent article, I noted that Mini had the biggest increase in sales for the month of March. Now, there is more news that more car purchases are based on gas economy with an increase in the amount of hybrid vehicles purchased.
According to R.L. Polk & Co., hybrid vehicle sales increased by 38 percent in 2007. While hybrid sales account for less than 3 percent of total auto sales in the U.S., that is still a significant increase.
With more hybrid styles being offered through different manufacturers, it seems that hybrid sales should continue to rise.
I wonder if there might
March Car Sales
by Michele April 14th, 2008 | BMW News, General Auto News
In March, US auto sales fell by 12 percent. This statistic is not surprising, considering the economy and soaring gas prices. Interestingly, based on more data from March sales, consumers seem to be considering gas prices when purchasing new vehicles, as Mini (division of BMW) had the biggest increase in sales and Hummer had the biggest drop in sales.
With overall new world car sales dragging, it causes me to wonder if there will be a surge in other options for purchasing cars. Will auto auctions become a more popular way to acquire a

Death of a Car Designer
by TK April 13th, 2008 | General Auto News
The American muscle car was definitely impacted by the design work of long-time Chrysler senior designer John E. Herlitz. This week Mr. Herlitz died at his winter home in Naples, FL, at the age of 65.
John E. Herlitz, whose designs were always received well in car reviews, was the designer of the 1970 Barracuda and the 1971 GTX (see the photos). Both of these muscle vehicles have been reaching new heights at car auctions, with prices over $2,000,000 lately.
The car design world has lost a giant.

by TK January 14th, 2008 | Corvette News, General Auto News, General Motors News
In a major coup for General Motors, the completely redesigned 2008 Chevy Malibu won the Car of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show. The newly designed car hopes to take on the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord in the ever popular and hard-contested sedan area.
The Malibu's interior has a twin-cockpit design that mimics classic Chevrolet Corvettes. Its exterior shape, with smooth sides, wide rear window pillars and side turn signals, is intended to resemble European luxury sedans.
For the struggling auto maker, General Motors, this offers a ray of hope that they have turned the corner and are hoping to put
