STP 400

Martin Truex Jr. owned the first three quarters of the STP 400. Unfortunately for Truex, it’s that one final lap that really counts. And the winner of that one all-important lap was Denny Hamlin. Hamlin’s (pictured) second victory of the season was the 199th time that a #11 car has taken the checkered flag, a new NASCAR record. Truex finished second, followed by a red-hot Jimmie Johnson.

O’Reilly Auto Parts 300

After a two-week layoff, NASCAR's Nationwide Series came roaring back to life on Friday night with the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300Defending Nationwide Champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. continued his quest for a repeat with a hard-fought victory.  Stenhouse battled hard against eventual runner-up Paul Menard all day.  He finally took the upper hand for good after a restart following a red flag with 23 laps to go.

Menard finished second, followed by Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, and Austin Dillon, the young High Point University prodigy.  That makes just two of the top five

It's been exactly 50 races since Greg Biffle last won a Sprint Cup race. That 18-month drought came to an end on Saturday when Biffle (pictured) beat out Jimmie Johnson to claim the checkered flag at the Samsung Mobile 500.

Nascar Profile: Ricky Stenhouse Jr

Like so many of the NASCAR greats before him, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. started racing at a young age. He started on the kart circuit at age six and continued with great success until he was 15, racking up 50 victories along the way. From there he moved on to open-wheel racing, which he continues to drive today in addition to his stock car duties.

Nascar Profile: Martin Truex Jr

Martin Truex Jr. began his racing career on the Kart circuit at age 11.  By 18 he was driving modifieds.  In his early twenties he joined NASCAR and spent two seasons on the Nationwide Series.  Two seasons, and two championships, later, he was ready to move on to the Cup Series full-time.

His first full year on the Cup Series, Truex finished a respectable 19th in points.  He improved to 11th in his sophomore season, his best year to date.  That year he won his first race and made his only Chase appearance so far.
