Drive4COPD 300

by Ronald A. Rowe February 28th, 2012 | NASCAR, Nationwide Series
How's that for a finish to the start of a new season on the Nationwide series? After a brutally long 99-day layoff and one preseason event, NASCAR roared back into the forefront with the Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway. The casualties of the final turn of the final lap read like a who's who of NASCAR. Last year's Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, last year's Nationwide series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr, and last year's Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart were just three of the illustrious drivers whose day ended just a few second

Adding and Subtracting NASCAR-Style

by Ronald A. Rowe February 16th, 2012 | NASCAR, Nationwide Series, Sprint Cup Series
One driver is cutting back on his racing schedule while another is looking to expand her horizons. The "her" is probably a dead giveaway, so we'll elaborate on the latter half of that opening sentence first.

Danica Patrick (pictured) is set to run in both the Sprint and Nationwide series this year. But just running isn't quite what she has in mind. Patrick plans to claim at least one win in each series during the 2012 season. She's gracious and charming -- and a woman competing in a man's sport -- and manages to steal the spotlight wherever she goes,

NASCAR Profile: Kasey Kahne

by Ronald A. Rowe February 14th, 2012 | Driver Profiles, NASCAR
Kasey Kahne won the same number of races in NASCAR's Truck Series and Sprint Cup Series in 2011 -- one. Of course, he ran a full slate on the Sprint Cup circuit and only entered one Truck Series race all year. He finished 14th in the Cup Standings for the season.

Kahne had never driven in a closed-wheel racing league prior to joining NASCAR's Nationwide series in 2002. After just two years on the junior circuit, Kahne moved up to a full season on the Sprint Cup level in 2004. He barely missed the Chase that season, finishing 13th.

He dropped
