The American muscle car was definitely impacted by the design work of long-time Chrysler senior designer John E. Herlitz. This week Mr. Herlitz died at his winter home in Naples, FL, at the age of 65.

John E. Herlitz, whose designs were always received well in car reviews, was the designer of the 1970 Barracuda and the 1971 GTX (see the photos). Both of these muscle vehicles have been reaching new heights at car auctions, with prices over $2,000,000 lately.

The car design world has lost a giant.
