NASCAR Profile: Kasey Kahne

February 14th, 2012 - by Ronald A. Rowe | Driver Profiles, NASCAR
Kasey Kahne won the same number of races in NASCAR's Truck Series and Sprint Cup Series in 2011 -- one. Of course, he ran a full slate on the Sprint Cup circuit and only entered one Truck Series race all year. He finished 14th in the Cup Standings for the season.

Kahne had never driven in a closed-wheel racing league prior to joining NASCAR's Nationwide series in 2002. After just two years on the junior circuit, Kahne moved up to a full season on the Sprint Cup level in 2004. He barely missed the Chase that season, finishing 13th.

NASCAR Profile: Clint Bowyer

February 7th, 2012 - by Ronald A. Rowe | Driver Profiles, NASCAR
Clint Bowyer was the thirteenth driver in Sprint Cup points in 2011, just his sixth year running full-time on the circuit. Since his rookie debut in 2006, Bowyer has consistently been among the top drivers on the circuit.

Bowyer finished 17th in his rookie campaign, which was his worst year to date. In his subsequent season, Bowyer made the Chase and finished 3rd. In 2008 he paired up a 5th place finish in the Sprint Cup series with a Nationwide Series championship title. He fell off somewhat after that with a still-respectable 15th place campaign in 2009. January 31st, 2012 - by Ronald A. Rowe | Driver Profiles, Nationwide Series, Sprint Cup Series

Kurt Busch (pictured) began his racing career at 14, which would make him a late bloomer by NASCAR champion standards. After successful stints in Dwarf Cars, Legend Cars, the Southwest Series, and the NASCAR Truck Series, Kurt made his Sprint Cup debut in 2000 and went full-time the following year.

Beginning in 2002, Busch went on an impressive run in the top

Driver Profile: Ryan Newman

January 24th, 2012 - by Ronald A. Rowe | Driver Profiles
Ryan Newman had an excellent season in 2011.  He won just one race, the fifteenth of has career, but he was consistently around the front of the pack with nine Top 5 and 17 Top 10 finishes.

As is the case with many of the top drivers in NASCAR, Newman started his racing career young, although Newman was even younger than most.  His first recorded quarter midget race was at the age of four.  He's not only been successful at every level of racing along the way since then, but he's started strong each time he moved up a notch.

NASCAR Profile: Jeff Gordon

January 17th, 2012 - by Ronald A. Rowe | Driver Profiles, NASCAR
Like many of the NASCAR greats, Jeff Gordon started racing at an early age. He began running in short track races at 5 years old. He became the youngest USAC licensed driver in history at 16. At 19 he was the youngest USAC Midget Champion ever. A year later he was named the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year.

In what could later be viewed as a symbolic changing of the guard, Gordon's first race on the Cup circuit was also the final race of NASCAR legend Richard Petty's career. Gordon ran a full slate on the top series
