2012 All-Star Race

by Ronald A. Rowe May 22nd, 2012 | NASCAR, Sprint Cup Series
Jimmie Johnson is on a roll. A week after collecting the 200th win for Hendrick Motor Sports, Johnson followed up with a dominating win in the All-Star Race. Johnson's car was passed exactly three times all night. Three. To put that into perspective, the next closest number was nineteen. Johnson won the race of pit road by a bumper and went on to win the race by a mile*. He cruised the final ten laps without a serious challenge to his lead.

Johnson was also the winner of the first

Capital City 400

by Ronald A. Rowe May 1st, 2012 | NASCAR, Sprint Cup Series
You know it was an odd NASCAR race when the guys who finished third and tenth both think they were robbed of the victory. The named- at- the- last- minute Capital City 400 Presented By Virginia Is For Lovers (sigh) was as unusual as its name. All the strangeness certainly suited Kyle Busch just fine as he racked up his first Sprint Cup victory of the season.

Auto Club 400

by Ronald A. Rowe March 29th, 2012 | NASCAR, Sprint Cup Series
One thing you can say about the Auto Club 400, it was short.

Tony Stewart (pictured) got the victory by virtue of being out in front when NASCAR decided enough was enough at lap 129. Stewart guessed right when he had the option to pit under caution five laps earlier. He chose to stay out, while other notables such as Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin went in. Had the rain held off, Johnson and Hamlin would have been the geniuses. But the rain came down and the race was called

Kobalt Tools 400

by Ronald A. Rowe March 15th, 2012 | NASCAR, Sprint Cup Series
Unlike last year, when Tony Stewart waiting until the Cup Chase to really turn things up, the champ is starting strong in 2012. Stewart's car had more muscle than Jimmie Johnson's on the final restart of the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That victory marks 14 seasons in a row that Stewart has won at least one race, but never has he racked up a win so early in the year. Stewart's hot streak, extending back to last season, includes six wins in the
