camaroIn December ’08, I posted an article on the new Camaro set to release in 2010. I also mentioned that it was featured in the Transformers movie as a character named “Bumblebee”. It appears that both the Camaro and “Bumblebee” have returned in the Transformers sequel Revenge of the Fallen.

In real life, the Chevrolet Camaro vehicle stands only 4 1/2 to 5 feet tall, but the Bumblebee Transformer character grows to a size of nearly 17 feet tall and 13 feet wide. The reason the character is so large is because it “Transforms” into a walking robot that was sent to Earth in order to save the planet.

GM showed the new and updated Camaro to the public once again before movie release time in an attempt to tease many who are waiting for the release. Ed Peper, the GM North American vice president, commented that,

“Chevrolet is thrilled to again be part of one of the most anticipated movies in years, Transformers’ gives us a great opportunity to connect with young people on their terms, with a dynamic, environmentally friendly image. The new characters represent the change going on in Chevy showrooms.”

One of the most anticipated movies indeed, the original Transformers grossed $708,272,592 worldwide when it hit theatres and grossed $289,424,683 the first week of release on DVD. The sequel looks to have related box office numbers with anticipation caused by the addition of several new characters and vehicles.

One of the more popular “mystery” vehicles is the Chevrolet Sideswipe, which is Chevrolet’s Corvette Centennial Concept.

According to the film producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the new film will include close to forty Transformers robots. The movie itself, Revenge of the Fallen, is set to release on June 24, 2009.
